Some years ago the Post Office was split into three arms - Post Office Counters, Royal Mail,& Parcel Force. Royal Mail sort & deliver mail; Parcel Force do the same for parcels over 2Kg; and Counters is the high street presence. Most high street post offices are privately owned and run by shopkeepers, but the larger ones (Crown Offices) are owned & run by Post Office Ltd |

The Post office is owned by the Government in th US but in the UK the Post Office or Royal mail is a retail company that was owned by the UK. It then became The Post Office, a state-owned corporation, in 1969. And as of 2000 it is a Public Limited Company. |
