well said El SamO
the royal-mail website says it is government owned
just do a quick google search

Some years ago the Post Office was split into three arms - Post Office Counters, Royal Mail,& Parcel Force. Royal Mail sort & deliver mail; Parcel Force do the same for parcels over 2Kg; and Counters is the high street presence. Most high street post offices are privately owned and run by shopkeepers, but the larger ones (Crown Offices) are owned & run by Post Office Ltd

The Post office is owned by the Government in th US but in the UK the Post Office or Royal mail is a retail company that was owned by the UK. It then became The Post Office, a state-owned corporation, in 1969. And as of 2000 it is a Public Limited Company.

The Queen does apparently but arent they all privatised now?

Well, if your in the US, it is a non-profit organization run by the government. If you are trying to locate a "higher up" then try the postal inpector.

Dr. Gupton
The government owns the fraking Post Office.
They call it the united States Post Office for a reason.

Mr. Prefect
The correct name is the United States Post Office. Notice the name "United States".
