Wal-Mart treats their employees terribly for one, plus what Bentonville says often goes by the wayside because local managers think they know best. |

Wal-mart treats their employees like garbage. They hate their jobs, and their bosses also suffer from the corparation, so it's a domino effect that gets taken out on the customer. |

Because they are underpaid and generally not treated well by the Wal-Mart corporation.
Plus, the way our WalMart cashier stations are set up, they would not be able to reach the carts. The bags are on a carousel - the checker fills the bag, spins the turntable to the next bag. The customer removes the bag when it turns around to the customer. |

Maybe she's sick and tired of having a crappy job that pays lousy, won't give her enough hours to qualify for benefits, and having to act all enthusiastic regardless of working conditions? |

it's because they work for walmart. you'd be miserable too. |

More than likely because WalMart's workforce is riddled with 16 year olds, uneducated young parents, and illegal aliens. I believe everyone should get their due chance, but someone who DOES NOT want to be at work will certainly act like it. I would be grumpy if I worked at WalMart also. |

Whenever the customer doesn't take their bags off of the carousel, the cashier has to stop checking things and walk around to load the cart in the middle of the order, which wastes checking time, causes longer lines and longer waiting times for the other customers. If you are able to lift the bags off the carousel, put them in your cart! Seriously, think how long it would take to check-out at Walmart if no customer put their bags in their own cart.
The attitude comes into play when the cashier is in the middle of the order and the carousel is full, there is still a long order left and he customer just stares and does nothing. It wastes time for the cashier to have to load the cart.
Now, if the order is finished and the costumer is looking for their method of payment, or recording the final price, or something, then, by all means, the cashier should take that time to load the cart. Also, if the customer looks very tired, disabled, or sickly, then the cashier should load the card without attitude. |

They have crappy lives already and working in Wal-mart makes them realize they should have gotten an education and they could have had a better job. |

I guess the people want a better job. Ah I don't like the attitudes either |

This answer is simple. It's because they work at WALMART. If you were me and there were a lot of bags that needed to go in the cart I would just stand there and stare at them until they either put the bags in the cart or the manager came over to see what was up. |
