Because as long as demand is high the oil compaines make profits. The messed up part is that the more crude oil costs the more money they make because their profit margins (and markups) are defined in terms of percents. As long as people are still buying gas, raising prices will do nothing but help the oil industry. |

Because our government is controlled by big business which operates on petroleum/petroleum money. As long as the pockets of our elected representatives are lined with oil money, they will charge you and I whatever they please and profit how they see fit. |

Simple economics....The price will stay as high as the economy can bear! The price of gas will stay at the price people will pay, it is the same for any item. Oil companies are in business just like any other company, to make only. From the biggest company to the smallest mom and pop store, the idea is to make money. |

Because the whole goal is to keep us so busy and beaten down that rebelling against anything is not even an option.
We spend more money and work twice as hard to keep up, while they make more money.
All the big businesses have someone on their side in congress and laws are made to protect them and their investments. |

Our president and vice-president made much of their money off of oil. They have many friends in the oil industry who've helped finance their campaigns. Same goes for most of Congress, Democrat or Republican (but mostly Republican). |

That's backwards, oil companies are making billions because we're paying through the noses. So, stop buying as much.
Maybe you should try moving closer to work and biking. Or biking on the weekends to wherever you need. It'll help you, and hurt them. Everything you want in life. |

One reason why gas prices are so high is because the liberal environmental wackos won't let the gas companies build more refineries.
