Why are 90% of Companies Lazy?
When it comes to calling them? How many times have you called the bank, the credit card company or any other business only to be greeted by the telephone voice robot? I just want to talk to a real person but I have to go thru hell just to get someone on the phone. I hate when they ask for you to put in your credit card number or any type of number on the keypad. What happens if you mess up? There is no way to hit backspace on your phone.

Here is an example:

Press #1 for sales
Press #2 for tech support
Press #3 for lost or stolen cards
Press #4 for if you wish to pay by credit card

and so on and so on. You spend 5-10 minutes doing this and when you finally get someone on the phone they ask you all this information again. Argggggggggggg!!!!

What happened to the days when you dealt with real people and not these robotic voice helpers?

I agree 100%. I also love calling customer service, such as with our cell phone company, Virgin Mobile, where the voice talks to you and you speak whatever department you need, or your account number. I'll be like, "4256." And the voice will say, "4297. Is this correct?" NO! It's not.

I'm also annoyed with the whole outsourcing of customer service. Can I at least talk to someone in the United States, who actually uses the same cell phone / credit card / etc., who can possibly comprehend the issue I have?

Companies are trying to save money. They cut corners wherever possible. Customer service is the first to go.

Companies are bombarded by customer complaints. They ignore them, however, because they know that there are always new customers to buy their goods.

More important to companies are the shareholders. Companies must present quarterly reports that show a healthy cash position. Shareholders do not care about customer service.

It is hard to know where customer service will go from here. It is already quite low. E-mails do not help as the companies delete them. Perhaps, new companies will emerge whose only job is to handle customer service by phone for a variety of different firms.

They are not lazy, they are cheap. By putting you through hell they avoid paying several people to run a switchboard.

In a way I agree with you about not being able to speak with a live person readily. My company wants all phones answered at all times and it almost never works out. Management thinks that by having a live body answer the phone, that will keep the customers happy. Wrong! If we answer a call for someone we don't work with, have no idea about their clients and are not familiar with the cases, we are of no help whatsoever. I had someone tell me once I totally wasted their time and it would have been quicker if they just went into voice mail and left a message for the person they needed to speak with. I totally agreed with them (they wasted my time also).
