Why are Swiss bank accounts so popular? Whats the big deal? What is a Swiss bank account?

Milk Cartonz
Since these bank accounts are overseas, you dont have to report any profits on your taxes because it is not American currency, in addition, it is a good way to hide because it is overseas, what it all boils down to is it is very secret, check this link out on Wikipedia

Swiss banks are very secure I blieve. If you put your money there. You will not lose it.

PS as a side note, if you do invest their and do lose money, I am in no way liable.

The Jackal
At the very simplest level, Swiss banks account are SUPER secure and virtually untouchable by a government (typically the U.S. who can, under certain circumstances, GO INTO your bank account to retrieve funds that are due to them.)

Its a bank account that is not linked to anyperson or any other bank. you are identified by a number and a pass code. Lets say you die and you never gave anyone your id and pass. that money would be forever lost and it's like it never was there. I am not sure how many people really use these things but its the best way to hide money from the government.

Swiss banks and their accounts are popular in the United States first because they are over-seas, thus making electronic hacking "slightly" more difficult. Second, they have the policy that privacy and non-disclosure is one of the most basic fundamentals in a democracy, which translates into their banking system as well. Their main competitors (as far as privacy, etc) are Singapore, and Panama (Panama is Latin America's largest banking center).

For more info, I would advise you to see the Wikipedia Article on it:
