Because they don't have the money to buy in bulk like supermarkets do. A lot of convenience stores even go to places like Sam's Club or Costco to purchase inventory. Supermarkets usually cut that middle man making them able to sell at a lower price.

because you are paying for the convenience of pulling up quick and getting in an out. Additionally, convenience stores pay a higher price for their groceries since they do not purchase nearly as much as grocery stores do.

they're smaller and don;t buy as much bulk stuff, which really beings in the discounts. It's also probably a marketing ploy with the "convenience" tag.

Because they are charging for being "convenient". They don't typically have as much revenue as a large grocery store so they charge higher prices to make up for that.

- higher marginal costs due to buying less than big stores and therefore paying higher prices. Also each customer buys fewer things and spends less money in a convenience store, and therefore the costs per $ sales (advertising, marketing, etc.) is higher.
- higher fixed costs due to typically being located in more expensive areas (and hence, convenient)
