Why are rich people so greedy?
Why can't they spread some of the wealth down to less fortunate people like low level employees of their billion dollar company? Like Wal-Mart for example!
Additional Details
..and no I'm not talking about charity I'm talking about all these rich CEO's and CFO's hogging all profits a company makes and letting the little employees suffer.

not all rich people are greedy, but to answer you, some are like that simply because they are not yet satisfied with what they have....and because they "love" money, which is the root of all evils

How else will they stay rich?

Walmart uses Sweat Shops in foreign countries. It has 10 year old children making it's clothing for less than a dollar an hour, and you expect it to share the wealth with it's employees? Be real.

whereRyou?
Well...making a profit is what got them in the business. Saving money by keeping operation costs down means not over-paying the people lower on the ladder. If they were to work very hard, then give all their money away, what would be the incentive to start a business?

I do think they donate a ton of money to those in need though. I think Bush gives them a hell of a tax break if they do.

Ask our government why they are killing the middle class. That's who I'd ask. I'd also ask the people of this country what the hell happened to "No taxation without representation".

People whine, but continue to vote these idiots into office. The national minimum wage could not support even one person, let alone a family.

Taxes continue to rise. Gas is outrageous, meaning food costs more. Housing costs continues to rise. Utilities continue to rise. In our case it has more than doubled in only 3 years inexplicably. Yet the wages are close to the same as they were in the 70's. We are the first generation in this country to be worse off than the generation before it. It is a sad state of affairs and needs to be fixed. Please vote someone decent into office this election.

I really do not know why wealthy people are rather selfish. I know someone with alot of money and even though he sorts me out when I need it, he is so grudged about it that it makes me feel like not taking it. It's just that sometimes, I have no choice but to because I wouldn't be able to get to work or eat if I didn't! Perhaps money = power and rich people feel as though the can control you because they have that freedom of cash.

In terms of business, railway companies n the UK are raking in a fortune by over charging for their services (if you can call it that), but they never hand the profits back to the ones who have made them so profitable in the first place; services are terrible, the trains are inadequately maintained and you are squashed in like sardines in a can. And they call this a democracy - we are at the mercy of these people yet have no choice but to put up with awful conditions of transport, insuffient pay (in some jobs) and the unhelpfulness and ignorence of others.

All the while, the fat cats are laughing at us. Shame on them

So they can be rich----------but there are lots of rich people that give away a lot of money----------i dont know if they do it to avoid taxes or what but it does help many----at least the goverment cant waste it when the rich give their money to a worthwhile charity---------consider what Bill Gates & Warren Buffett have done-------both these guys are very charitable---------we need more like them --------look at these sports figures and musical stars they waste most of their wealth and end up broke like Micheal Jackson,Mike Tyson, and O J Simpson and never dream of helping anyone---------what a legacy---

Not every body. So many rich people are doing lots of good
things for the poor people.

1) They are not in business to be charitable. Those employees are willing to work for those wages. In many areas of the country, Wal-Mart jobs are highly prized because they pay *more* than anything else available. When's the last time you gave the cashier at the gas station extra money for themselves?

2) Let's say they wanted to give away $10 million dollars. Among Wal-Mart employees, that would be $3 to $5 each. It wouldn't buy them a coffee at Starbucks, much less health care. It makes more a difference to donate it to charity.

3) It's the ordinary stockholders of large corporations that are cheap. Privately held for-profit companies, owned by those rich folks you are denigrating, are much more generous as far as extras. Rich people know you do not bind the mouths of the cattle who tread the grain. But when you're responsible to millions of stockholders, and your share price takes hits from the market when you're too generous, you tend to watch the bottom line more closely.

because thats how they got there probly have 99 cents out of every dollar they ever made!

Greed is what made them rich. If they did what youre saying, then THEY wouldnt be rich anymore.

Think About It
I think you should look further into your question. You will find many of the wealthiest people are giving away billions.
