Why can't a country print more currency to become richer?

That would create a hyper-inflation situation. You really don't want to go there.

Printing more money for no apparent reason causes inflation. Let me give you an example of how it works. Imagine having a baseball card that is very rare (lets say only 5 like it), the value of the card is high. The more baseball cards they make like yours decreases the value of your card etc...Same idea with currency. Hope this helps.

Inflation.

More money in the market equals more for people to spend, thus people buy more things so demand goes up so prices go up, thus - you're back at square one.

Currency has to have value based on something like gold, property holdings, investments, etc. There are many things to consider, including it's value compared to other countries.

Yash
it would give the money less value; it's like taking a $10 bill and spliting into 10 equal parts. the more you split the bill the less the value of each bill becomes

.:Lena:.
Because that would take down the value of their dollar.

J Z
because that would mess up the economy! Money would have NO value if we could just print it off when we ran out! the only reason we print money is to replace old money

When any country prints currency it compares its value with gold and it puts that much gold in the bank. This is simple example.
Now you are saying why can’t any country print currency to become richer, it happened in front of us that is Zimbabwe. They had short fall of money so they printed more money, more money, and more money till its lost its value. No body wants to do business in there money.
At present most of the world business happens in US dollars.
