They aren't really. Half their commercials are that and the rest are like the iPod Touch, new macs, and the Air.
Microsoft is the most well-known OS and is very bad. I have been a "Mac person" for a long time and know a lot about them. At school I always have to use junky PCs and hate it. Once you use a Mac you never go back. If more people who have a PC would see those commercials enough and think "Hmm... maybe I'll go to the Apple store today" they'll buy one within a week. |

Companies (like Apple) will explore the market and determine which type of campaign is best for capturing more of the market.
A positive message "Buy our product because it's better!" may not resonate as well when you're #2 in the market or when people have attitudes of "just buy a PC and deal with it".
A negative campaign seems to be better in their environment because it reminds the potential customer of all of the drawbacks that they have to deal with when they buy a PC (implying that none of these drawbacks exist with a Mac).
It's actually a very smart choice for them right now since Vista has fallen flat on its face and people are preferring to stick with XP. |

Because they are breaking the mold. Also because I think Steve Jobs, Apple Creator, is bitter at Bill Gates, Windows Creator. Back in the 80's Bill Gates betrayed Steve Jobs and created windows based on early versions of the Apple. That being said Macs are different computers from PCs and they are great. |

Well I'm sure there is still a competition between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates afterall Bill did steal Steves idea.
However, 99% of the population owns a PC and MAC is trying to get it's piece of the pie by showing people that MAC don't experience the issues that PC does. Macs don't get virus's, they don't have operating issues that Microsoft experiences, because Microsoft puts out operating systems before they are fully debugged because they are out to make a buck and not necessarily a quality product. Whereas mac has the same operating system that had no bugs the only thing they do is make a different computer.
So if you are going to try to steal a PC user why not do it at Microsoft's expense. |

Well of course Apple are going to want people to buy Macs! They want to make money.
It's like you wouldn't advertise a car and on the advert say that the car is dangerously unsafe, really uncomfertable, and uses so much fuel you'll be left pennyless! The purpose of adverts is to make people want to buy your product over others! |
