Fresno Guy | Why do 90% of the websites have their company logo on the upper left hand side of the page? |

We read from top to bottom, left to right. If the logo is on the upper left hand of the page, it will automatically be the first object seen by the reader. |

It's because of how we read. It's usually the first place our eyes fall to on the page, as if we were reading a book. |

Because we start writing on the upper left hand, so our eyes looks toward that direction. |

because most languages read top to bottom, and [english] left to right? |

It's become the standard layout. Most people are right handed and tend to stay to the right of the screen. Top left corner is dead area and nowadays navigation pans out along the top spanning right from the left. It's just what we're used to. |

I suspect that most page designers use templates or are directed by the company itself to design it in such a way. I think it would be neat to have the company logo front and center, appearing as a 'home' button on each page, but not too loud. Let the product speak for itself. |

Also traditionally the address would be on the right hand side. These days they tend to put it across the bottom. |

people are used to reading from left to right and top to bottom, most people tend to look there first therefore being the best place to put a logo that represents your site
my two-cents anyway |
