Why do Asian companies NOT give their employees laptops so they can work from home instead of having such long

Asian companies (most of them) do work that cannot be done on a computer (ever tried to build a ship on a computer?) anyway.

To work effectively from home, you do need Internet. Check the CIA world fact book to know how few Internet connections exist in Asia.

Labor is cheaper in Asia, it might be cheaper for a company to have their employees spend hours in traffic daily than to buy them an expensive laptop.

Their work culture is more group-focused, that means they are not "happy" if they have to stay at home.

disclaimer: All this is said in general and exceptions might and will occur.

First of all don't view Asian companies like wester companies. In the Asian world its still like the 1950 were here. Employees should be seen in order to work effectively.

I think you are too sterotypes. Asian has many different groups, i.e. chinese, phillipines, thais, japanese, korean, etc. Even amongs the chinese, they have from China, Taiwan, HongKong. I have many friends work in Hongkong, and some of them have companies' laptop and allow them to work from home. I think it's all depends on where they come from and what types of industry are in. Even in western countries, a lot of companies would not allow their employees to work from home, as some concern about the sensitive information being taken home.
