Why do Barclays keep charging me money!!???!!! I want compensation!!!?
I have an interest free overdraft at Barclays. They have assured me of this for the past year! But every month when I use the overdraft they charge me ridiculous amounts. Every month I have to go back to Barclays and they say sorry and that they'll fix it and refund me.....
This is the 4th month in a row now...it's so annoying!!!!!!!!!!
How can I demand some kind of compensation!!??

a) Why are you still with Barclays? Swap banks.

b) There will be a banking ombudsman, but it'll take ages to get any complaint sorted. Better to vote with your feet, as it were.

Why don't you just close your account and change to another bank...

Velken
So quit overdrafting. You shouldn't use it on a monthly basis. Overdraft protection is to protect you in case you accidently spend too much, not to rescue you every month when you knowingly overspend.

fudge
Swap banks, go to the bank of your choice and they will help you switch.

cnuswte
yes, it may be interest free, but what about fees? generally there are fees associated with using overdraft.

I doubt if you will get any compensation as they do put right the problem. I would write to them and ask for their assurance that the situation will not arise again and that if it does then you would want some payment for your expenses in dealing with it on the same level as they would charge for their time and writing a letter to you. If it doesn't stop you will take steps to close down your account. You can do this quite easily by opening up a 2nd bank account and transferring money directly to it. If the continue then ask the new bank to take over all your business from the other and they will deal with it for you. They do not like losing customers so it will be a good sanction to try.
