what the hell are you talking about? Exxon Mobile has made more in the last couple of years than any company ever. Why can't "cons" get their freaking facts straight? Besides that, Kraft doesn't get huge tax breaks like oil companies do, and if times are tight, I can choose not to buy a pack of Kraft Cheese, whereas I have no choice but to buy gas. |

I am not a liberal, but I am furious over oil companies making HUGE profits off us consumers. As for Kraft, I haven't seen them raise their prices for the sake of huge profits. Their prices have gone up, but, mainly because transportation costs have gone up also. And I am sure their electric bills have not remained steady.
Oil Companies should be managed and regulated by the Federal Government. |

check your facts first:
XOM - Exxon Profit '07 was $40,610,000,000
PG - Proctor & Gamble '07 was $10,340,000,000
KFT - Kraft Food Inc '07 was $ 2,590,000,000

If you examine the price over earnings you are right, by saying that people currently expect to PG and KFT to perform better, wherefore they are actually willing to pay a higher price for PG and KFT then for XOM.
PG P/E 19.91
KFT P/E 18.84
XOM P/E 11.33
Maybe people fear that the value of the stock has reached it's top. That we may soon run out of oil and that XOM will lose a lot of their investments, maybe also to unrests around the world.
Looking at the history of the stockprice, this "fear" may not be justified, but actually investing in food products or similar is more a "safe heaven" and therefor people feel more secure in buying KFT or PG even they do make only about 1/2 the money for each share dollar invested that XOM makes.
Buying XOM maybe a good advise, unless one contemporary favours the environment. Keep in mind that XOM has still to pay for some cleanup in Alaska and who knows whether they will not be asked to pay for the 3 trillion $ war in Iraq the US fought also on their interest. Certainly the war was not made to sell the products of PG or KFT.
Some people (many) still vote with the $ and are not just simply selfish. |
