It is the very same vicious cycle that enrages the unions that forces them to shop there.
To clarify; Wal-Mart practices require those using shelf space to cut their prices each year. This forces the suppliers to move to non-US locations to reduce cost. Which then reduces US jobs and decreases the household income of the working class.
The working class have less money and have to shop where they can get the best prices. Which, most times is Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart takes in more money, grows in strength and directs those who fill their shelves to reduce prices further...and the cycle begins all over again! |

TheChinaDoll has it right. People might not support Wal Mart's corporate policies, but unfortunately some of us don't have the luxury of shopping elsewhere, where things are much more expensive. |

It is a vicious cycle all right. Wal-Mart is a public company and the investors (the general public) demand higher earnings. In order to do so, Wal-Mart needs strong sales and consumers (the general public again, union members or not) on the other hand want low prices. But then, the US workers in the manufacturing industry want higher wages. To meet these conflicting demands, the company buys from the cheaper overseas sources. The truth of this mess...American jobs were not exported. We simple lost them because we lost our ability to compete in the world market of low cost manufacturing. |
