No, it is called "business." There is no one working at a bank that doesn't get a paycheck. If they all worked for free, then the bank could just do transactions, etc. for free, too. Business doesn't work that way. Sorry. |

Then don't use a bank.
They have the right to charge you because
you give it to them when you sign up for an
account.
You don't have to use a bank. It is part
of the terms and conditions. |

Remember, a bank isn't a public service. Its a business. It costs money to service your account, and to buy a building for you to go to, and to pay salaries for employees to be there when you get to the bank. Banks have to make money too or they will go out of business like any other place. |

Yes they have a "Right" to charge you, however nobody is forcing you to stay with bank X, you do have the "right" to change to a bank with no checking charge..there are plenty of them out there. |

do you have a better suggestion than a bank? |

That's how the bank stays in business. How do you think they pay their employees, their taxes, their utilities, etc? |

How do you think the bank staff get paid? |

A bank is a commercial business and trades in financial services with the object of making a profit each year for the benefit of it's shareholders. The charges it makes for those services depend upon the costs involved and what the competitive rate for similar services in the banking industry are. There are many banks offering different types of banking accounts, and also building societies and even the post office, all of which can have your salary paid into their accounts. The difference will be in the facilities these various accounts offer you, the account holder. Some are basic accounts with no cheque book or cards and with no overdrawing facility. You basically have your salary paid in and you draw cash to shop and pay all your bills. There may not be direct debits either. But this type of account is usually free.Other accounts with more facilities may also be free but incur charges for overdrawing or other transgressions. Then there are accounts that offer even more facilities but have a monthly administration charge. The choice is yours. Select the bank and type of account that suits you best. The banks are in competition with each other so they will tend not to be excessive in their charges or they risk losing customers. |

If you don't like it protest it.
I share you pain but if you don't do something about it they'll never know.
Maybe you should google "warehouse banks" so you won't be charged anymore. |

They charge us because they have employees and overhead to pay. Plus, putting your money in a bank is more secure than keeping it in your house. If the bank is robbed they have insurance. So you will have your money still. But if someone robs your house you may not. |
