Why do banks in the UK charge monthly fees? I asked my bank about this and they just said: that's how it is!?
Thats how they make money, by charging late fees on credit cards, loand and if your over drawn ect
Kimi~Kinekie
Banks are businesses just like any other & need to make profit.
Why do they charge? Because customers put up with it. I suppose you get what you sign up for & if you don't like it, bank somewhere else.
The fees depend on who you bank with & what the package includes, but you can get free bank accounts that offer just as good.

no bank in UK charges monthly fees
u pay fees only if you are overdrawn on an informal overdraft.
and thats when you dont have sufficient funds
other than that Banks pay you to keep your money with them

it depends on what type of account you have. most banks offer at least 2 types of current account. a basic one and a premium one with fees.
For a monthly fee you probably get a higher rate of interest, travel insurance, access to commission free money exchange.
If you just want standard banking, move accounts and/or banks

Monthly fees for what? My bank only charges interest if you are overdrawn.
