To make the most products and services at the lowest price possible.

1.) Ability to be considered an entiry with it's own Tax ID
2.) Separation of personal assets from business assets
3.) Ability to trade stock and become public
4.) Ability to allow for multiple owners in a structured manner

I am sure there are others.

its not just for making a profit. our non profit animal rescue is also a corporation. its to make the business its own entity so that it can continue on without the one person who founded it, to give it legal rights and to protect individuals from lawsuits and other legal issues.

How could this even be hard??

Google "corporations, sole proprietorship and partnerships" and you will have your answer. More along the the lines of easier to raise money via shares and no owner responsibility if you go into bankruptcy for some basic concepts.

Nate
Lets see. It's a research project so you should do some research but this is a good place to start.
1.To create jobs
2.To provide services

and that is all I got.

Corporations divert liability away from those that own it. They also help raise capital, since there are several owners instead of just one or a couple. Because it exists as a separate entity, it has to pay taxes like a person would, but for larger companies, this is a small price to pay in order to be able to have a large investor base and a lot of capital.

Hope that helps. :0)

Probably the biggest thing is for limitation of liability. Only corporate assets can be reached unless the corporate veil can be pierced (which is almost impossible to do). Also, corporations generally allow for a more liquid ownership base.
