Why do lot of companies hire idiot bosses?
The one reason for hiring idiot bosses can be that a particular company wants to have a person who will not outshine his superior. But isnot this a very negative attitude?
What are your views?

There's a theory that most people are promoted to their specific level of incompetency. Once they've reached that distinguished plateau, they stagnate for the rest of their careers.

Take George W. Bush for example. Oh, sorry....he reached his level of incompetency in college, but his family dynasty, power, money, connections and influence have always been able to bail him out of trouble and keep him climbing up the ladder of success. But, I digress....

I worked for a multi-billion-dollar company in a mid-management position. It seems they continuously promoted unbearably dumb dullards for upper-management positions. I think that happened because department managers wanted these dolts out of their hair, and yet had no reason to fire 'em. So they promoted them.
You're right, the 'corporate' mentality thrives on negativity.

My pet theory has always been: "The larger an organization, corporation or government gets, the less manageable it becomes, and the fewer people benefit from it." -RKO-

depends on the company u r workin' if u r talkin' somethin' like Sony....Bellsouth or some big a$$ company there'z no excuse to hire an idiot unless he'x the general manager son daughter or close relative.....but if u r talkin' like a macdonalds or shell gas station or K-mart ...all the staff is retarded get a fvckin' degree and stop complaining

My experience has been that those that know the least are the most likely to point out the deficiencies of those in higher positions. While those with a broader view or understanding can understand the intrinsic value someone brings to their position while acknowledging that person is not perfect.

At our company it seems like the most intelligent people want jobs where they do real work and add real value to the company while the underperformers go into management. The frustrating part is that most of our managers don't understand how their best performers do what they do and are always getting in the way of doing a good job.

so that the idiot employees think they are smarter...lol
the smart manger is the one who lets his team shine and not take the credit himself and smarter bosses are ones who chose such people

Because they usually prove themselves loyal to the company.

They hire the "yes-man" they can get for the cheapest price. People as commodities... Anyway, it takes about ten seconds for such individuals to become institutionalized into the "company speak" of the place that writes their paychecks, and so naturally, this tends to limit the amount of intelligence an individual is allowed to exhibit. Negative attitude? It's just the price of capitalism, isn't it?

blah
The Dilbert Principle, those who are to stupid to work are promoted to manager.

IDIOT COMPANIES

Forgettable
The main reason is that most companies want the staff to follow instruction blindly and not to question company decision. So by recruiting those idiot bosses, nobody will challenge the company decision on the policy they made. This is not negative attitude. this is just one of the tactics to get rid of their "excessive" staff.
Every company also do the same whether you like it or not. Sometimes this idiot boss can climb faster than their superior, if they can get the result right
