Why do people hat walmart so much and not other places like target?
it seems like people are always in walmarts face when other stores like it have some of the same issues but people seem to have a far greater dislike for walmart. personally walmart has as equal service but cheaper prices. please do not use the excuse how they treat their employees unless you personally work there. i just want to know customer service wise

because the way walmart has their stores. they have all their inventory placed everywhere and its hard to find what you want, you can barely understand some of the cashiers and others are very repugnant. its also very crowded and hard to shop

To me they are an evil religious corporate monster...they suck money out of my pocket everytime i go there...i do not go there anymore! On a more serious note, i thinks it's because they are just the bigger name, there seem to be more of them around, and Target isn't really like Walmart-in general yeah-but not when you get right down to it.

A great place to do some extra research on this topic is...

I don't like WalMart but it has nothing to do with customer service. Here are my reasons:

1. Terrible lighting. WalMart's flourescent lighting has a blue cast and makes me feel like I'm shopping somewhere cheap. Target has warmer lighting.

2. Bins in the aisles. I'm not going to a bazaar, I don't want to sort through all the crap that hasn't sold in the last 6 months, I just want nice open aisles and everything on the shelf.

3. Too much stuff, arranged poorly in some sections, and stacked on too-high shelves. I have not had good luck finding someone who can help me find what I'm looking for, let alone know where it is right off the top of their head.

4. K-mart clothes. They feel cheap, are displayed poorly, and the colors are usually all wrong. Of course there are exceptions -- I'm sure there are some treasures in the mix -- but the few times I've gone into a WalMart I totally bypass the women's clothes.

5. Stupid yellow smiley face.

I think other people don't like WalMart because they don't have a union, because they tend to destroy any small-town businesses, and because their wages are low. I just don't like shopping there. I feel slightly unclean when I leave the store. Target is warm, clean, pleasant and nicely organized. Target rocks.

Wal*Mart is everywhere. They sell 20%+ of many staple goods. Think of the power of an organization which controls the sale of 1/5+ of our paper products, 1/5+ of household cleaners, 1/5+ of disposal diapers. I just selected those as examples. When so much buying power resides in a single business, vendors must sell to Wal*Mart in order to succeed, but Wal*Mart will be able to dictate many terms of their business. For example, Wal*Mart is leading the way on radio frequency identifiers for all retail products. Installing this technology is costing vendors a fortune, but Wal*Mart has the clout to make a decision and make the rest of the retail supply chain go along with it.

As a consumer, I know that 87% of Americans will shop at Wal*Mart this year. And, I know that if there are products I care about that Wal*Mart doesn't care to stock for any reason, those products may wither away.

An silly example is kitchen towels. It used to be that I could buy good quality, basic kitchen linens all over. Now, I find that I have two choices. I can buy extremely expensive kitchen towels from Williams-Sonoma ($10+), or I can buy cheaply made, unimaginative kitchen towels from Wal*Mart for $2.50. Virtually nothing in the middle.

That's why many consumers like Target. At Target, I can find stylish kitchen towels for $3.99. So, I find Target to be the last holdout of well-made, moderate priced mass market goods.

Kitchen towels are truly a silly example, but I suspect you'll find examples in your own shopping patterns where you're finding it hard to locate the goods you want to buy. The high-price "boutique" type goods will always be available, but they're unaffordable for many of us. And, Wal*Mart will ensure that the lowest price goods are available. But, many of us want to shop someplace in the middle.

As far as the shopping experience itself, I find that almost all retailers are the same nowadays. I've shopped, and I'm willing to pay good money for what I want to buy, but I'll have to wait a very long time to actually pay for those goods. If I'm returning them in the prescribed timeframe, all major and most smaller retailers will cheerfully accept them back. So, when it comes to the shopping experience itself, I see no difference between retailers, except for the extremely high end speciality stores.

Target has way, way, better service than Wal-Mart. They must be more selective and pay better. The stores are cleaner and not mobbed with crazy people.

Also, Wal-Mart has a corporate strategy of putting the little guys out of business with predatory low pricing.

their commercials are gay. and they sell everything, except walls... IT'S WAL MART!! they dont even have walls!!!

Target gives more back to the community. Last I heard they average giving back 3 million dollars every week. That's more than Walmart and they are 10 times biggger than Target!!

Also..just a personal preferance...I like not getting stopped at the door by some group looking for donations like they do at Walmart.

I for one, happen to like shopping at WalMart. U can`t beat most of their grocery prices, needing the most bang for my buck, I find it a great place to shop and not a bad place to work, having been employed there for 6 months between jobs. I can`t speak for all WalMart stores, but I was employed in the northern part of the states, so immigrants were not part of the work force.I would go back to work for them in a heartbeat if the need ever arose again.

Because so many people don't take the time to find out what is real..we have a super Walmart store near us and save of ton of money on grocerys..of which I might add most of the produce is locally bought from farms..not shipped in from cental america..so the quality is much better, prices are low..we also continue to buy the same products that we had at kroger and safeway so don't think for a moment the quality is less.. we also buy in the other Walmart depts, otc drugs, clothing..one example is I buy some very good T-shirts for less than six dallors and of very good quality,, I would have to pay double that anywhere else....maybe somewhere at one time a Walmart store or so had a bad rap and the story has expanded like alot of gossip doe's....I value the hard earned money I have and when I can save this much and live better there is no room for a complaint...

because target, so far as i know, doesn't lock its employees in overnight (which sucked for those who have had medical emergencies) nor do they cheat the hec out of these employees, who can't do anything about it, because they are illegal immigrants.
