There is often disputes about it because like everyone said, it does put alot of mom and pop business out of business because they are not able to compete. The mom and pop business would prob drop prices if they could but it's more difficult to buy things for your store and such because you don't get it at as cheap of a price as WalMart. (People often get a price and discount based on size of order) In addition, there have been many labor law disputes revolving around WalMart. They are the largest corporation in the world but they also do not have a good reputation re: how they treat their workers and so forth. They have caused alot of contraversy due to this point. |

I don't hate Wal-Mart. I get most of my supplies and stuff for my business trips there. And where ever I travel in America and Canada, the first thing I ask is "Where's the nearest Wal-Mart?"
Love it or hate it. Wal-Mart is useful and better then most retail stores out there. |

the reason is thay say u have a small town say 7000-10000 population its has small stores (food,cards,glass,so on ) when walmart comes in its has all those in 1 so u just go to walmart not the small stores they go out of buissness and have no job . no job no money people have to go to walmart
and the have poor heath benifet and so on its just bad(i still go there sometimes) |

Good question. Some people think Walmart chases out the litte man ( companies cant compete with Walmart) so they do not like Walmart. Others think people should get paid better to work at walmart with better benefits. All I have to say to that is if you are not getting paid what you want and you are not getting good benefits then get a better job. Unions dont like Walmart beause they are not union and they are not getting their share. GOOD!! I hope Unions never get into Walmart if they do PRICES WILL GO UP! People need to stop hating on Walmart and just accept the fact that they are good company with low prices and great selection. |

i know how you feel. i live in a very small town myself and we have no choice but to go there. i do hate how they put smaller businesses in financial trouble and such.
but i hate everything in general so i'm no help. lol.
i actually try to buy organic foods these days from the actual farms and stay away from that area of wal-mart. it's better for farmers AND better for animals and our bodies. |

i love walmart.. i shop there all the time.. all of there clothing sections are limited... if you go to a supper walmart though they are huge.. i have a super walmart about an 1hr from where i live ive only been there a few times though
the people that think it is evil .. well they probly dont like there nice low prices or are made walmart bought out or took most of the bussiness away from the places they used to shop at
to Jaab.. maybe the walmarts in your area no one can speak english everyone in my area can speak fine.. most people are young that work at them ages 16 to 30 and most of my friends work there |

I dont think that Wal-mart is that bad I do agree with you that the big section is very limited but the one that is near my school has to be the worst. I went Friday to get an money order and the line that i had to get in serviced 3 programs, please tell me why was there only 1 person working the 3 program line nd the line had at least 20 people in it. That my only problem with Wall-Mart and sometimes thing arent exactly where there suppose to be. |

well they buy in such bulk from China that nobody can compete with them...
imagine being in a small town of say 15,000 people. you would have people that own a toy store, a stop and go, a greeting card shop, eye glass shop..etc etc ...then walmart moves in...well...all those shops close..and now your choice is to work for walmart or starve...
i like Target myself.

My grandma for one will go there only for emergencies. I live in a town of less than 7,000 and we really feel the effects of Wal Mart. We used to have a square full of little stores that you could walk around to and get everything you wanted and the people were nice and personal. Wal Mart came in and closed those stores down. Wal Mart is hateful and they want you out of your store as quickly as you walk into it. I personally love Wal Mart because its my generation, but thats why she hates it and refuses to shop there. |

It seems like you answered your own question.
You live in a small town and it's the only place you can go.
You can thank Walmart for that.
Before Walmart there were mom and pop stores in small towns. You had a choice on where to spend your money. |

I am only speaking from what I've heard people say....Walmart harbors all types. Half that place doesn't speak English (AT ALL) That goes for every Walmart I have ever been to. Although I feel it is very convenient because it's one stop shopping I hate to go there because I feel like I am walking into a friggin carnival. TPT really... |
