Why does everything at stores like Walgreen's and CVS cost more?
1) the store doesn't buy as much as say walmart, so the store must pay more; and
2) i personally shop at CVS sometimes just because it's a hassle to get in and out of walmart, so the extra cash it costs (so long as it's not too much) is worth it to me...if people are willing to pay for the convenience, stores are willing to charge for it...

Because people who shop there think the are getting a better product by paying more, when they can go to Wal-Mart and get it a lot cheaper and is the very same product and when they have things on sale at Walgreens you can take the ad to Wal-Mart and they will take Walgreens sale price, Walgreens will not comparative price any of their products, I used to work at a Walgreens..........

I think it's because they are almost like convenience stores, a lot are open 24/7. I don't buy anything there but my prescription med. If I need something else, like pet food or a snack or some kind of necessity, I go elsewhere.

For the day to day transactions you are paying for the convenience of a nearby location and likely shorter checkout lines.
That being said, if you pay attention to their advertising flyers they do have sale items that are every bit as competitive as WalMart.
