Our country is based on immigrants. It was immigrants that built this country and continue to build this country, English speaking or not. With the exception of the native American, all of our ancestors immigrated here. These immigrants that do not speak English are taking jobs that most Americans don't want. To clean your house or build your house doesn't require a grasp of the English language. I would only add that immigrants need to come into the US legally. That is where the focus should be. My ancestors came to this country legally because they had a desire to be Americans and have all the rights and opportunities that go with that honor. |

Because they're doing jobs where it is not necessary to speak english. Because they are often coming from countries with poor working conditions, they are also willing to work for less pay. And for the record, do you think it would be a better idea for the US to NOT allow people who can't speak english to work in the US? Or do you only think they shouldn't be allowed to work at certain jobs (specifically yours)? I really don't feel much sympathy for the guys who complain about getting laid off because their job is getting outsourced or given to someone who will work for less. I think the argument is juvenile and selfish because people are essentially saying that other people should not be given the same opportunities as they have had. If somebody is willing to do the same thing you do, at about the same level of efficiency, but for cheaper, why shouldn't the job go to that person? If you were willing to take a large pay cut, you could keep your job. People would rather ***** and moan as opposed to learn new skills though. |

hehehe. immigrants who do not know how to 'talk' English? Um, okay - because 'our' country is mostly populated by decedents of immigrants ie. Unless you're a native Indian - your ancestors emigrated to this country at one point. And because people who were born here and lived in the U.S. their whole lives can barely 'SPEAK' English anyways - so who can tell the difference? |

Because Employers hire them for a much lower rate of pay than they would have to Pay someone born in the USA. |

What are you referring to Immigrants.USA is a Melting Pot there are lots of people that speak (not talk) different languages.
Immigrants referring to Mexicans they are very hard workers who Value the importants of work to survive.While residents of the USA are complaining that they have not received there 15 min. break etc..LoL.

Want to know how REALLY bad it is?
My wife's cousin was born in Cuba. Came to this country two years ago from Cuba. Speaks NO English. Went to a government employment agency. Got a job two days after arriving in the US working for the school board cleaning classrooms; $15 per hour TO START! Now 2 years later is the supervisor. Making $20 per hour and still can BARELY speak English.
YOU and I try to do this! See what kind of job offers we get. It is better to leave the US, become a citizen of another country, and return as a foreigner. You will get all kinds of financial help. |

Don't know, but if you figure it out I would love to know. I was laid off last year. Work for Lockheed Martin, and due to "reduction in workforce" I was one of those chosen. Any ways, I live close to the Mexico border, and I am unable to get a job cause I don't speak the language (Spanish). I personally think it is reverse discrimination. I you live in the USA speak English. We Americans should not have to speak a foreign language in order to work in this country (USA). So ridiculous!! You can not even be a school teacher here in Texas, our area, without being certified in Spanish language. Half of our schools are Spanish speaking classrooms. Well, I could go on and on, but I won't. |

yes. immigrants did build and form this land but, nobody actually claimed it. the Indians were just ......there...just living there. They didn't rightfully claim it as their land. it was there to be claimed so we did. English is spoken all over the U.S.A. it should be kept that way. so that everyone can communicate with everyone:) I don't know about you but i get pretty mad when i get on the phone and the person on the other line does not speak any English at all!!! ya it gets pretty annoying!!! |
