Because they can...........they take advantage of honest people looking for a job.

I disagree that they pay so little. I work at wal-mart. The job I had before paid me $8.00 an hour and after 6 months I was making $9.00 an hour and had absolutely no benefits or medical insurance at all until I left to work at wal-mart. They started me at $11.70 an hour and through a promotion and raises from evaluations I am now making $14.10 an hour and have only been there a year. Every other retail store in my town starting wage is an average of $8.00 an hour wal-mart in my town has an average wage of $11.20. I have profit sharing, medical benefits, stock and medical insurance which is coming in helpful since I am now pregnant and it is high risk- the insurance has been paying 80% of all the medical costs and are now paying all of it now that I have reached my maximum out of pocket.

Employee wages are determined by the labor market, based on supply and demand.
If there are more workers who want the job than there are jobs, then people are forced to accept lower wages because they can't find anything better. If there are less workers, then the business is forced to offer higher wages in order to compete against other businesses for the employees.

Because they can. Besides, the workers have an easy job and no degree. If they didn't want to work there for such little money, they should find a job somewhere else. Business are usually all for budget cuts and if that means wages, then so be it.

So there's more money left to persuade their bosses to give the mangers a bonus.

Because typically people who work at Wal-mart don't have a college educated and just a high school diploma
or they work it as a part time to help pay the bills
