Julia | Why don't people realize Wal-Mart is evil? |
Do you people not realize the TRUTH about wal-mart?? The fact that they use slave labor overseas, the fact that the purposely stay understaffed and tell their employees that they have to finish this task or they will find someone else scaring their employees to stay off the clock in fear of getting fired.
When a wal-mart goes up, it puts local shops out of business and those lost jobs never get replaced! And before you try to defend them I suggest you do some reading and watch the High Price of Low Cost... and I know all this is true because I know many people who have worked there.
Our s****y economy isnt just from people using their credit cards, it is because labor and merchandise is all overseas now.
And let me tell you, wal-mart is NOT always the lowest cost! Especially for small electronics, look at the i-pod at wal-mart then look at the price anywhere else, it is no different! Additional Details yes ehdsolo, i did just complain.. but i asked a question too, I can multi-task!! |

I have been saying this for over 10 years, the US trade deficit with China, I think at one time was reported to be about 13% Wal-Mart.
What happend to creating American Jobs? People seem to reward them with getting their jobs outsourced to another country by shopping there.
They strongarm alot of manufacturers to lower their cost and in the end force moving jobs away. |

Well your partially right. There is however a lot more information that is needed for fully analyze the situation properly. Firstly, Wal-Mart uses what they call and are known for as cost-leadership. This is basically the maximization of efficiency and strict monitoring of products. Wal-Mart has an extremely large amount of pull when it comes to being a purchaser. You will find that walmart doesn't have large variety of brands because they pay for large quantities they can buy at the cheapest price with average quality. This being said who can make products extremely cheap with a cheap wage being paid to them? China, India, Philippines. But wait theres more! China will soon find themselves not being used as an outsource market because south african people can perform the same tasks at a cheaper wage rate than China can. ;) |

Walmart is so controversial. Walmart does close down small businesses but it also provides hundreds of jobs when they open. Walmart does buy their products from overseas where there are sweat shops. But do you know where they women in the sweat shops would be if they were not in the sweat shops- outside in a field working in the heat. Walmart is not the only corp buying their products overseas. I can tell you they do not "scare their employees". I am a vendor that sells products (made in USA) to Walmart and know about 10 employees from 20 different Walmart and this is not the case. Walmart is ususlly the cheapest even if it is by a few pennys but they do not offer promotions the way other stores do. |

People know,they just don't care.
I hate walmart too,but you really think they're the only company based in america using slave labor? thats just naive. |

The ability to buy cheap unnecessary plastic items trumps economics in most people's minds.
I prefer to buy fewer things, but at higher quality. |
