Why dose managment have a hard time getting rid of troublesome workers but yet will have no problem firing?
decent workers?

Hard Worker

Many managers are insecure and don't know how to get their job done or how to manage people. They want to be the best and smartest in the company, so they fire all the best and smartest workers who get their jobs done well, and keep the worst workers. That way the managers become the smartest.

The troublesome workers have figured out the one thing the boss likes to have done, and they do ONLY that thing. That's why they are so much trouble, because they leave all the other work for you, including all of the jobs that take up too much time, so it looks like you are wasting time and they are working hard.

Troublesome workers tend to be the ones who run to lawyers and file suit. I know of a couple cases where employees were fired for cause -- one was caught stealing. But they filed discrimination suits. Neither case actually made it to court but were settled out of court just to save all the lawyer fees.

So basically a couple of bad employees got $5K or $10K. Meanwhile, the hardworking employee ends up with a raise just below the cost of living increase.

Must be a union shop and they have seniority, at least that is what it sound like. Have seen it in many places, that is what the union is all about.

My company has no problem firing bad apples. We are a meritocracy and reward only the employees who are top performers with good attitude.
