Why is Wal-Mart so bad for the U.S.?
I keep hearing from some people and the media that Wal-Mart is so evil. I'm rather curious...
Additional Details
Let's stop whining about China already! I see almost everything I buy is either made in: China, Japan, Taiwan or Hecho En Mexico. I love the US but can't find too many items made here, not even the "domestic" cars are! They are mostly assembled here but most all the items are made elsewhere...even Canada.

It's just a bunch of liberals whining about corporate America. Whenever a company does well and dominates the market, they want to bring them down as much as they can. Democrats are against anyone who does well in this country. They also whine about Microsoft, big oil companies, Haliburton, big banks, and other successful industry leading companies.

The only thing I would say about WalMart is that nobody is able to compete with their low prices. WalMart has a monoply on low priced retail stores. On the contrary, I know that I can find anything I'm looking for in a WalMart store. I personally like WalMart. If they can save me a bunch of money, I'm shopping there.

they have poor employee careness and only give 1 percent of their money to donate. Where Bill Gates gives at least 25 percent.

Wal-Mart isn't so bad for the big city. Wal-Mart is terrible for mid-size and smaller towns. Because of their discounting they virtually run everyone else out of business. The auto parts store, local clothiers, small chain grocers, etc. From an employer/employee standpoint Wal-Mart almost never allows an employee 40 hours a week. That way they don't have to provide their employees with health insurance or any other benefits of any type - just wages only.

The other thing that really gets me about Wal-Mart is this: Almost everything you buy there is made in China. Check it out the next time you go. We are supporting this communist nation who could care less if their people live or die. They also discriminate against the female gender. Don't get me on my soapbox.

Hope that helps

One reason is they buy most of their merchandise from other countries, not ths USA. This hurts our economy. Wal Mart is mainly in it for the money. They have a poor relationship with their employees. Just a few reasons I have read.

I wanted to open a boutique in my local area and sell things like handmade soaps, clothing, art, etc. I would be opening it with my two best friends.

The location we had decided upon all of a sudden got a new walmart in the area. NOW we cant have a boutique there because instead of handmade bath products, anyone can go to walmart and get 10 soaps for $1.
Mass produced crappy items cuts out the little guy.
Ive also noticed that clothing stores and small family grocery stores in the area have gone completely out of business.
Walmart is this giant steamroller, screwing over every small Joe trying to make a life for himself.
