Lee | Why is shipping (fedex, ups) pretty much never alvailable on weekends? |
I get paid on Thursdays, I hate making a purchase Thursday night online, and then not getting it until like the middle of the next week even if I choose 2 day express. Why don't these services run on the weekends? I'm aware that you can pay a HUGE fee for Saturday delivery and such, but why isn't weekend service just the standard? So many people ship things in this global economy, wouldn;t it just makes sense to have it functional 7 days a week. Plenty of other businesses run 7 days a week, hospitals, restraunts, television stations, gas stations, pharmacies, etc. Why is worldwide shipping any different, especially when it's growth has been increasing? Additional Details Pointing out that people are overworked by a buisness bieng open 7 days a week, or people "liking" to work weekends is totally flawed. Millions of jobs are available to people only because of increased need for people to staff these types of schedules. I have always worked weekends for as long as I have been employed throughout my life it fits fine for me. Should we eliminate 3rd shift jobs and put all those people out of work so they can have the nice 9 to 5 shift you seem to think they need? How would they pay their rent?
Without expanded schedules like the 7 day work week, or 3 shifts in a day, etc. Millions would be hard pressed to find the revenue they need to survive. Besides if everyone worked 9 to 5 Mon. through Fri. who would actually be going to these buisnesses since everyone would be at work all at once? |

most mail/internet-/order business are not set up
to have something delivered by Saturday. if order
on a Thursday
I see you said Thursday NIGHT that means the place you
are ordering from probally wouldnt even recived your order
TILL FRIDAY Morning -they still need to time to package your
order, process it, verify your address, possible verify your credit
card info that takes time!
there is a possible that you
coul try place your order over the phone and ask
the person who is taking your order if you could have delivered
by Saturday
also here a litltle secert Fedex Home delivery DOES DELIVER
on saturday for NO extra charges)
(you just have to chose fedex ground for that |

Standard business week is Monday through Friday.
I wish more places were open 24 hours a day and at night, too. |

Maybe they appreciate their employees. They work long hours 5 days a week, unlike the post office. I have seen them as late as 8:00pm delivering. I think they more than make up for it. I wished everything would go back to the way it used to be. Every business closed at noon on Saturday and did not open until the following Monday. |

USPS runs/ships on Saturdays. I'm assuming it's not economically viable from a profit standpoint, or else more companies would be doing it by now. |

Simple. Most of FedEx and UPS shipping is to and from businesses. Most other businesses are closed on the weekends. |
