they have a great management team, that hires the right people. The companies atmosphere is fun and energetic, and when the employees like working a company, those feelings trickle down to the customers.

They get a lot of customers because their fares are cheap. They keep fares cheap by setting up their hubs in "secondary" airports where gate space rental is cheaper, by relying less on union labor than their competition, and by keeping the number of plane types they fly very low which keeps the cost of mechanics and spare parts inventory down. Plus a few years back, they negotiated a very good long-term contract for fuel which currently allows them to buy jet fuel a LOT cheaper than the competition can, because they locked in at lower rates for a long time while the competitors opted for short term contracts and prices went up. I do expect their fares to go up a pretty dramatic bit once that contract runs out, which is I believe 2008.

Perhaps because they are very strict and yes cheap, so it works for them. I don't like their service, it's just a very cheap airline all around. I can do better with some of the other airlines at just around the same price, just slightly higher.
