Short answer: The economy is down the toilet right now which means people don't have the money to buy the things they used to. Automobiles are a pretty big purchase.

The question should be what company isnt in trouble these days besides McDonald's. They are all hurting. So unlike the average joe who when moneys tight watches his budget n tries to cut costs they splurge the executives with ridiculous bonus's etc. which makes me wonder why when apparently they are not doing a very good job or they would not be in this situation. which leads to lost jobs etc etc and so on down the line and here we are today

Cars are one of the main problems to pollution. They are fosil-fuel run and cause a lot of carbon gases. Pertrol is also very expensive to purchase and the world is fast moving into a time where everyone wants to look after the environment more carefully.

Hence, not buying so many cars!
