Why is walmart bad to the community?

Wal Mart is taking away your choices. Not only by causing others stores in your community to go out of business, but by the simple fact that they buy in such bulk that they can drive what manufactures will produce. An example of this is the toy industry. Wal- mart is such a big customer that Mattel and other manufacturers have started streamlining their production lines to produce only those items that are selling well in wal mart. another example is the fact that wal mart will not sell music with explicit lyrics. They have taken it upon themselves to censor the music industry. I know some people will say well just go somewhere and buy your cd's well that is all well and good until wal-mart with the super low prices shuts down every other small music store in your town because they cannot afford to buy in billions of cd's just to get a price break that they can pass along to consumers. So yes from the perspective that wal-mart brings affordable goods to the masses they are providing a service, but I think we need to ask who is ultimately paying the price?

I think the one thing that can make it bad is that they sell so many products (it's like an all-in-one store), it takes alot away from local small businesses, especially mom-and-pop shops that have been in business for many years.

What walmart doesn't tell you is that for every one job they create, 1.5 jobs is lost overseas. Many of those lost jobs are good paying manufacturing jobs, which walmart replaces with crappy $6/hr jobs.

Also, walmart would like for you to believe their prices are always the lowest, this isn't always true. Actually it usually isn't true.

I hear people say Walmart is ruining the small mom & pop businesses. What a load of crap ! Walmart ISN"T ... The customer who stops going to the mom & pop shop are the ones making them close. Walmart is simply another store doing business in the world.

Then others complain about the wages that Walmart is paying... Well then DON"T GO WORK THERE ! Geeeez, people will place blame on everything and everyone else rather than look at their own crappy decisions they made! Just like people hating the rich such as Bill Gates... well I say when YOU make / invent & market something that changes the world we will all hate you too! *rolls eyes in head*.

The biggest complaint most recently I have heard, is the fact that Walmart runs your checks directly through the bank at the moment you hand it over, deducting that amount electronically. People are whining that it will cost us millions due to overdrafts !! GOOD GAWD I almost pissed my pants laughing at that one! SO WALMART IS TO BLAME FOR YOU ALL GETTING OVERDRAFTS ! ha ha haha !!! Perhaps the morons doing the shopping should ONLY shop when they have money!!!!
Theres the perfect example of blame blame blame... whine whine whine! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah life is good when I can get a good laugh off the idiots out there !

Never heard that before.

personally i love the low low prices....I do think that i had something to do with the whole benefits thing.

Because it offers job opportunities and provides goods to all the community at a lower price than anyone else...

Oh wait, those things aren't bad!

Some say because Wal-Mart doesn't pay as much as other employers or offer as good benefits. On the other hand, because of their low prices, poor people can actually afford things like school supplies for their kids and clothing and stuff. Is it high quality? Of course not, but where do you find high quality clothes at inexpensive prices these days? Do they offer good service? Ha! But you pay for good service, which the mom and pop stores should focus on to do business.
