Aside from the horrible spelling,
IT is harder for most to train someone that cant hear them, and it takes a lot more time, that can be spent doing something else.
In a lot of places there are safety issues, ie., driving a truck, you need to know if an alarm or horn is sounding in case of an accident.
A deaf person cant answer phones, assist the general public in customer service, or communicate with most anyone that isnt trained for it. Its much easier and efficient to hire a hearing person. |

A lot of companies don't want to deal with disabled people. But there are many jobs where you need to hear so they wont hire a deaf person for that. But every major corporation hires a few disabled people and a few minorities to fill their quotas. |

Most Companies don't want to hire anyone with a disability because they are afraid they won't be able to do as good a job as someone with out a disability. It isn't right, but it happens. |

People calm down about the spelling and grammar please... i worked with deaf individuals and this person is typing ASL (just cutting out all "useless" words. But normally when signing it is faster because there is no sign for, an, is, it, and so many other words so they have to finger spell every word. Its like pidgin signing. ANYHOW...
It just depends on the field of work you want to go into. For my clients it was hard... being in the death world does have some barriers but try to overcome them. A lot of people not being hired is a fear on the employers part, "how do i communicate with them and so forth" i would bring a pad of paper and use English sign but in words with full proper sentences. Also look up death community's. i volunteered at the Ohio death colony....was also weird for me being the different one. So was a good thing for me to see what the hearing impaired feel when with the hearing world.
Communication is a big part of any work environment also |

Probably mostly the cost of making changes for Safety and Operational. Fire/smoke alarms have to have "Visual" add-ons, Phones have to have "Interpretion screens", etc.
Professional driving - too many liabilites for the company, excessive insurance costs from the underwriter, Mobile communications challenges, etc.
Some companies do have many position offerings where they have the investment in place. |
