I have numerous reasons why I don't shop at Wal-Mart. I think they are taking America, & running us into the ground.
1. (everyone know this one) They run the little guy out of business. The genuine friendliness can't be beat. The charm of the small town center is gone. Many people used to be able to walking from their house to go shopping - no more - they must drive, burning gas.
2. They (& other big box stores) are homogenizing the country. You go to any small town in Kansas, New Orleans, Virginia, or California, and there is no "local flavor" because where can you go to shop? Wal-Mart.
3. They are destroying innovation in the name of cost by forcing suppliers to trim every penny (I'm not opposed to cost pressure, but when one "customer" has all the power, it is dangerous).
4. China: It is bad when suppliers conclude they must go to China to save $, but Wal-Mart mandates that a certain % of each suppliers' goods come from China. And while those plants in China are taking our manufacturing jobs, they also help develop the skill base needed for Chinese companies to get going, so that the engineering jobs, management jobs, & profits will all go to China (which will leave us ONLY retail, & NO power or leverage in the world).
5. There are many other smaller reasons, but I'll stop here. |

I've received some good customer service at Wal-Mart but I avoid shopping there because they are hypocrites when flying the American flag while undermining America thanks to their Chinese and Israeli friends. 1 dime goes to Wal-Mart for every $1 spent on retail - sounds insane to me. Ross Perot was right when the giant sucking sound became Wal-Mart once NAFTA was enacted. |

I do shop at wal-mart but I have a sister who does not unless she absolutely has to for whatever reason. She doesn't like how it is constantly busy, never a "slow" time.
I know others don't care for the fact of how "corporate" it is, with little emphasis on service and more of a mechanical, robotic staff. I'm sure that's not what Sam Walton had in mind, but Wal-Mart has lead the way in sales-oriented focus and not service. A lot of folks don't like how Wal-Mart does not offer carry-out service.
I've also heard the uniform meat rectangles they sell in the airtight packaging is unappealing to many individuals.
One thing I personally cannot stand is it doesn't matter what time of day I go to Wal-Mart, it's time to restock the shelves. They put the boxes of stuff in the aisles, making it impossible to get down the aisles or get to what you need, as if tripping around that huge store doesn't take forever anyway.

Two years ago, I went to Walmart to buy an Ionizer fan for my mother's birthday. I went to the "fan" area, and found a middle of the road priced fan. The price under it on the shelf said 59.99, and that was within the limit of what I could spend.
I stood in line (50 lanes only 5 open), and the cashier scanned my fan and 99.99 came up. I told her it was the wrong price, the price on the shelf was 59.99. She called for a price check, and an older male employee went back to check the price. He took a long time, so I asked to speak to the manager. She paged the manager, but he did not come. Shortly there after, the price checker came back and said, "No, it's 99.99." I said, "I don't think so." He said,"you're wrong, the price is 99.99." The manager still hadn't arrived, so I told the girl to ring me out. I wanted the fan, and now I was fuming because I was called a liar. She finished up the transaction, and I went back to where I had picked out the fan. The manager was there, rearranging the fans. I explained what had just occurred, and he said he could give me 10% off. I told him I was called a liar, and here he was moving the fans around when I actually picked out a fan marked 59.99 and was charged 99.99. He said he could give me 15% off, and I told him to go to hell.
In this day and age of competition, I will not shop at a store that does not value it's customers. There was a time when things were marked 59.99, that's what you paid, even if it was marked in error.
I told the manager I would never go into another walmart store, and everyone I met would know how I felt about walmart. He was shortly fired after my incident.
I still will not go into walmart.

I stoped shopping at Wal-Mart for quite a while b/c of its businiess practices. It is able to sell products at a cheap price by containing costs. While it's market dominance gives it an advantage over smaller buyers, Wal-Mat also neglects its employees by reduced pay and minimal health coverage. Anothe reason i didn't like shopping at Wal-Mart is what it was doing to competition. The mom and pop shops have no way of competiting with Wal-Mart. If you or I had 15 stores and bought 15,000 sweaters to sell, Wal-Mart would be able to buy 1.5 million sweaters at 1/2 the price I bought it at and offer i for 25% less then I'd be able to do it. The manufacturer of those sweaters, while making maybe 50 cents per sweater with walmart vs. $1 with me, makes much more in the end with wal-mart. this forces the sweater company to resort to cheap labor, illegal labor, and bad business practices.
I can go on and on but I think you get my point |

The middle class, in America, is fated to disappear because of the loss of blue collar jobs by the export of jobs to foreign countries such as those of the NAFTA agreement and the wholesale import of foreign made goods. |

i used to work at walmart and they dont hire full time anymore. they keep you right at part time so they dont have to pay any benefits. they got to darn big for thier own good! they overwork those who are full time! big time! asst managers and those on salary work 9-9 every all the time! and there product is 3rd rate! and the meat this is soooo true! it is just nasty! and i wonder how many customers they will loose over taking out layaway! people like me need that for christmas! but they suck anyway! i would much rather use small time stores!!!!!!!!!! |

I will go to Wal mart if I need things like paper towels or plates, coffee creamer, dog food etc. But for meat and other things I go to a regular grocery store. The meat at Wal mart is unappealing to me. Hope this helps. |
