Rock | Why should my tax dollars bail out GM? If they go bankrupt, that ain't my problem!!? |
More proof Obama is a tax and spend liberal...
He wants to spend billions of tax dollars to bail out GM.
Bush opposes this, and i agree with Bush.
If GM goes bankrupt, that's their fault. Why should my tax dollars be spent to help them out?
I am sick of the anti American marxism of linerals- To prove the point of opposition to a bailout of GM, don't you think we should boycott GM? GM should disband all unions, they are a drain on resourse. Additional Details My job is secure- why should i give a damn about other peoples jobs? |

I say NO to bailing out the auto industry though I was and still am also AGAINST the banking industry bailout as well. Whether the government gives the auto industry $1 Billion, $10 Billion or even $100 Billion it will make absolutely no difference. The problem is not lack of cash it's lack of cars being sold! No matter what amount the government hands to the auto industry cars will still just be sitting and piling up in dealership lots. |

I'm with the Limbaugh brainwashed fascist genius. We should stand united against linerals wherever they appear, especially when they are draining our resourses. Yee haw, crack a bud and praise Jesus! |

The American economy is driven by consumer spending. To suddenly throw GM, Ford, Chrysler auto workers out of a job is bad enough, but consider that for each auto worker, there are car dealers (and their sales people, mechanics, etc), the small job shops, the Credit Union tellers, the lunch counter waitresses, the bowling alleys, the day care workers and many others relying on those auto workers for their livelihood.
Once the unemployment rate hits 10%, the economy faulters. Tax revenue won't support federal spending, so the USA is forced to sell bonds at higher interest rates to overseas investors to raise working capital.
The end result may just be that the Federal Government is in the same condition in 10 years as GM is in now.
That, my friend, will affect you, unless you move to Mexico. |

What? What proof, Mad TV? Obama is not the prez yet he doesn't make any changes. Your Bush is still in charge so complain about him and get out of denial.
Also 1 in 10 of American workers are in the auto industry either directly or supply, admin and other supporting jobs. There's already too many people losing their jobs, maybe you'll be next.
They cannot disband unions. Learn first about what you write about before asking. |

Don't get me wrong, i understand what you're saying, but...
A major reason you should care about the welfare of others and their employment is to be patriotic, to care about your nation, to be a good and dutiful citizen. It's right to care about the well-being of our country. If General Motors goes under, many contractors who were mainly hired out by GM will suffer. Then, privately owned sectors of our economy will begin to fail, the failure of General Motors will be a very large and negative chain reaction. |

I think the only real reason to help them out, is to save jobs. I don't know the figures of how many people work for GM, but I can guess there are hundreds of thousands in the employment of GM and their suppliers. Times that by Ford and Chrysler and you could be into the millions of unemployed workers if the government doesn't help.
Is it all the union? I don't think so. The unions are there to help the workers. Yes sometimes they do offer too much protection. I work in an aircraft manufacturing plant, and we have a union too. I don't like them in some ways, because they can limit what the company can do, but in other ways, it is good to have them on your side too.
Management at these places have long ignored what the market was saying. I remember when the gas prices started going up, a VP of GM said we Americans love our gas, and will keep buying SUV's no matter what the gas price was. Now they keep producing SUV's and have a -44% drop in sales.
They whole system needs an overhaul. New management, not those from business schools who worry about investors pockets, but people who've worked the floors. Knows the faults, and strengths of the company, and build what the people want. Once these companies can stand on their own feet, with their own money and no debt, then the investors will get their share. |
