Someone please give me a good argument for bailing out the big three when, for years they have all chose to export their work overseas for cheaper labor and by doing so put the American worker out on the street. I believe they should file bankruptcy just like you and I would if we didn't know how to manage our money. No different.
Additional Details
As I read your answers, here's my two cents. Give that bail out money to the American auto worker. They have to accept a retirement. The big three will hire a whole new generation of worker, for a more fair wage. The retires will go out and buy the product they built for years. Problem solved? |

We shouldn't. The world has plenty of car makers already. Maybe Toyota, Honda, BMW, or Mercedes can buy the factories and once again quality cars will be made in America. |

WHO'S GONNA MASS PRODUCE YOUR CARS????? Yes let's put all those lower level people who don't make big decisions on the street too. The head of GM is allowed to keep an annual sallery of 1$, yes one dollar, next year. They are also a large source of income in taxes for the U.S., whether the workers work there or not. Let's also ruin the lives of those children of the employees. Yes, put the children on the street, that will fix everything. You can start a new huge company that will make up for GM, Chrysler and possibly Ford but will only sell green cars that some people don't even like. Not bailing out the auto companies has many effects on the innocent. One more thing. You have a point there. The American company should keep all it's employees American and in America. That will definately keep the company afloat and improve foreign relations. I'm sorry if my answer was sarcastic and bounced around but this is a subject I feel the need to rant about. |

The chinese can do it, the japanese can do it, etc. Why can't chrysler or gm do it? Because they're incompetent. Their mistakes brought them in the brink of branckrupcy and now they're asking the government to help them. This is bull**it. I think they should be left to die, simply because they are not EFFICIENT. Ofcourse that would have negative effects in the short term, unemployment etc, but what are the effects if the government bails them out? Think about it. |

What we have right now isn't of their own making. Can't blame uaw workers for their wages. Everyone says we should make the same as the transplants. All right the transplants are said to make 1/2 to 3/4 of what uaw workers make. But the cars sell for the same price. Where does that money difference go? What a uaw maker earns stays in this country.50 percent of japanese automakers profits are made here, But nobody says anything about the 40 percent of my wages that goes to the us government. If we cut everybodies wages, who is going to support it?

There are plenty of good reasons we should bailout the "big three." My question to you is why would you not want to bail them out? The first reason the government is going to bail them is, the cost to local, state, and federal governments could reach $156.4 billion over three years in lost taxes, and unemployment and health care assistance. i mean thats just one reason. In only 3 years 156.4 billion?? the government isnt willing to lose that much money. Since your so smart and dont want the government to bail them out, you tell me where else we are going to billions of dollars? unless we legalize weed. |
