Well, one argument against Walmart is that they create a class of people who are DEPENDENT on the prices at Walmart.

Meaning, Walmart runs competitive paying jobs out of markets, forces prevailing wages down, and then creates a class people who cannot afford to shop any other place.

In reality, a large percent of Walmart consumers can not, in fact, afford to shop any other place, which gives them no "choice".

sexykatmeow
yeah unbeatable prices...but at what sacrifice. There are many reasons NOT to shop there. I'd rather help support the environment, american business and employees rather then save 25 cents on shampoo.

You should do some research.

WalMart ran millions of Americans out of jobs and into poverty by forcing their suppliers to "cut costs" even when prices were skyrocketing.

WalMart is 7 % of CHINA's GDP.

WalMart does not have "quality" products. WalMart has products that suppliers make just for them, with shoddy/cheap parts, to meet WalMart's demands for price cuts. Buy almost anything at WalMart, then buy it elsewhere and you can physically see and feel the difference in quality.

Yes, WalMart is cheap, yes they provide millions jobs that don't feed their families, and yes, WalMart went from being the "Buy American" company to the "Buy Chinese" company.

You can shop there all you want, I prefer to try and spend my money where it creates AMERICAN jobs. Somebody has to do it or non of us are going to be working.

Well, first of all they exploit their workers like dogs. They don't let them work enough hours to qualify for insurance coverage. One Walmart was caught telling their workers how to dupe Medi-cal. They generally pay minimum wage, tend to discriminate against women in management( they've been sued over this) and have threatened employees with termination if they did not work mandatory overtime without pay ( they were sued for that as well).

If Walmart was the only store within 50 miles, I'd be driving 51 miles to something different.
