The successful manufacturing company sells what the buyer wants! Sounds obvious you say. But they have to use every way possible to determine what the BUYER wants, not what THEY think the buyer wants!
The crisp company was correlating information on what the multi-pack buyer would like in a multi-pack. Other questions in the survey would have related to what flavours do you prefer, probably giving you a list and asking you to put them in order of preference. If enough buyers of multi packs said that they liked, for instance, Crab flavour, then they would include that in a multi-pack. What it means to the company is that they would then be selling what the consumer wants not what they think he wants and thereby consolidating their position in the market.
