Netflix, never had it so easy. Have had many bad experiences with Blockbuster, especially with the miserable clerks who work in their stores.

CozyOneII
I prefer Netflix. First out of loyalty because there was no Blockbuster online when I started with Netflix. Secondly because when I tried BB online all my movies arrived broken and scratched. Lastly, because to take advantage of BB total access I still have to drive to the store which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

JPB
Blockbuster ripped me off so bad I will never try them agian.
I use netlix and have had no problems.

I loved netflix! One thing i do know about blockbuster is you can return the videos to the local store - which helps get the new ones sent out to you faster!

blockbuster is so much better. My husband and I used it. Not only do they do blockbuster online, just like netflix. But they also make it so when you are done watching your movies you don't have to wait. You can take them to your local blockbuster and get more movies right away. And then they send you more movies in the mail. We had three movies at a time and were getting about 16-24 movies a month. It's great. Especially if you have no cable.

onehello67
personally i did try both. blockbuster is slow in mailing the dvds. its bec they assume that you could always exchange it in one of their brick and mortar stores.
netflix is ok. did their trial things. more titles available in blockbuster.
try redbox dvd. $1.00 per dvd.

Netflix lets you watch movies online, as well as mailing you a DVD.

Look at the prices and decide for yourself. Netflix has more mailing locations, so unless you're likely to actually drive or walk to Blockbuster to trade in your movies, you'll get the movies faster from Netflix.

There aren't any Blockbusters near my home, and as a result, using Blockbuster would actually result in it taking longer for me to get my movies. Remember, Blockbuster stores don't mail out the movies, that's handled in central warehouses.

Besides, Netflix has a better movie selection, so it you like older or independent movies, Netflix is a better option than Blockbuster.

Blockbuster us by far superior to Netflix. I've had both and I can say without prejudice that Blockbuster not only has a larger selection (like director’s cut’s) but instead of mailing the movies back, you can take them in to a local blockbuster and TRADE them in for whichever movies you want! FREE! Like yesterday I had three movies to mail back but I went into blockbuster, picked out three new releases and when I went to the counter, they simply scanned the new releases than scanned the movies I was to mail back, (kept the mailed movies) and off I went. The store even mailed my movies back for me! Blockbusters online selection is greater as well. For instance, say you want to rent Armageddon? Just like Netflix, the site will show everything about the movie (actors, synopsis, etc) but blockbuster has a tab that says, “other versions” which from there, you can select the regular DVD (the one Netflix has) or you can choose the Criterion Edition version! That alone makes my mind up!

Another Perspective
I don't use either, but there was some reason i didn't like Blockbuster's when I looked into theirs and still had Netflix. I have a friend that uses Netflix after using both for a while.

Blockbuster online tried to rip me off so I don't do business with them anymore. And I don't use their local stores either.

I had only one minor problem with Netflix and they took care of it right away.

Tim
BLOCKBUSTER!!!!!!!

We had Netflix, the cheapo version with 1 movie at a time because we usually only watched on the weekends. If we mailed the movie back on Monday, we were lucky to get a new one by Friday.

With Blockbuster, we can mail it back on Monday and a new movie is waiting in the Mailbox on Wednesday. We can drop off the movie at the store and pick up another to watch in the meantime.

The local Blockbuster store told me that they share the same building with Netflix in Santa Ana, CA. So why does it take so much longer?

American Beauty
Hmm, I havent heard about the Blockbuster mailing service, but I have Netflix and they have done a fantastic job of getting movies to us right on time at a good price.

Since people are saying Blockbuster, can someone say what makes it better than Netflix?

Lucy
Netflix
- Free shipping - Both ways
- No Late Fees - Keep DVDs as long as you want
- Over 80,000 Titles - Classics to new releases
- Cancel anytime
- Two weeks free
-Plans start from $4.99

Blockbuster
- You have two weeks free
- Receive by mail, you can have your DVDs as long as you want
- Make you list online from more than 70,000 titles
- Return by mail OR exchange for a free movie at a participating store, either way they ship your next movie(s) the next day
- Never be without a movie

Blockbuster, defiantly.

Sassy Shut Your Mouth
I use them both. I like Blockbuster better because I have two options when returning the movies, I can either take advantage of the convenience dropping it in the mail box to return, or if I want a movie quick, I can stop by one of their blockbuster locations and drop it off and pick up a new movie. Netflix only have one option, dropping it in the mail. Also, they don't have many choices as blockbuster does. Either way I use both so I can rent twice the amount of movies per week.

Netflix v. Blockbuster

On April 4, 2006, Netflix filed a patent infringement lawsuit in which they demanded a jury trial in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California alleging that Blockbuster's online DVD rental subscription program violates two patents held by Netflix. The first cause of action alleges Blockbuster's infringement of U.S. Patent No. 7,024,381 (issued April 4, 2006, only hours before the lawsuit was filed) by copying the "dynamic queue" of DVDs available for each customer, Netflix's method of using the ranked preferences in the queue to send DVDs to subscribers, and Netflix's method permitting the queue to be updated and reordered.[23] The second cause of action alleges infringement of Patent No. 6,584,450 (issued June 24, 2003) which covers in less detail the subscription rental service as well as Netflix's methods of communication and delivery.[24]

In response, Blockbuster issued a press release on April 6, 2006 stating its belief that the claims are without merit and that it intends to fight them.[25] "Apparently Netflix would prefer to take us on in the courts rather than facing us in the marketplace where the consumer is the judge," said Shane Evangelist, senior vice president and general manager for Blockbuster Online.

In Fall of 2006, Blockbuster signed a deal with The Weinstein Company, that gives them exclusive rental rights for the studio's films, starting January 1st, 2007. [26] This would force Netflix to obtain copies from mass merchants or retailers, instead of dealing with the company. [27] Netflix has speculated that this might result in higher costs and/or smaller quantities purchased. [28] As of March 2007, Netflix continues to rent Weinstein DVDs. They now have Unknown (30 Jan 2007), School For Scoundrels (13 Feb 2007), and Harsh Times (13 Mar 2007), among others. The long-term effects of this deal are uncertain.

I'd rather use Hollywood video, although they don't have the mail-in thing. But they have a much better seletion of movies.

Oklahoman
This is my opinion here, but I can't possibly think of a movie that is worth either one. Read a book. You'll get so much more out of the story, characters, etc.
