The only thing that will really impact you will be new checks, new debit card and new paperwork and bank statements with Citigroup instead of Wachovia. Also, any buildings (such as the Wachovia tower in Charlotte,NC) will be having a Citigroup logo on the skyline.
The only thing that could directly affect you negatively would be that some branches of Wachovia could close. Your money is still safe since the bank didn't go under it was just bought by another bank.

Knowing Citi, they'll become CITI, but with a merger of equals, names can be retained. . .not the case here. . .

CITI may close some, rename all, consolidate. . . if there are CITI branches nearby. . . .if not, it gets CITI into market

Citigroup has stated that there will be no change in their dealings with customers but you will ultimately be using checks, etc. with the Citigroup name. You don't have to do anything, they'll make those changes automatically. The Wachovia name will continue in the form of the brokerage business.
