I don't think so. Though that does probablly contribute to the price of stamps increasing so much lately. But, people can't send packages through email. Unless they are super crafty and buy stuff online, then have it shipped to the people they are buying it for. Or something to that extent. Also, there is a whole generation of people that are not familar with the internet. Though I'm sure they will all learn or die off. :-/ |

It is a quasi public corporation with protection from competition. I think there is an absolute bar to any first class mail competition. Back about 30 years ago, a company in Houston was proposing to offer intra city mail for 60 percent the USPS rate at the time. The union ran to Congress. The Houston service was dead by political action. |

No. Ebay helps. And in Canada (I know capitalists have privately run post offices) they're run by the government so it's not possible for them to run out of money unless the government sells them off. |

I don't think so as some elderly folk don't understand e-mails and the internet services.and not everyone likes e-mails i don't like them much i prefer the postal way its more exciting and at least they cant get viruses and other computer illnesses. |

I think there is still something special about getting a handwritten letter that some people still like. |

with more email going on there are also other activities on the web like people buying stuff online. the shipping costs of these items are more than sending a letter costs. I think the postal companies will do fine for themselves. |

No, there will always be some need to send real things through the mail. But the US Postal Service needs to downsize itself or provide other services, just like any company that doesn't have as many customers any more. |
