Yes, it tells us that we can take a day off and make twice as much tomorrow. |

No. OPEC still controls about 70% of the oil industry. Since OPEC is a monopoly, it sets its own price regardless of market forces... something which would be illegal in the US or most democratic countries. The American oil companies are pretty much forced to go along with opec or be ruined.
Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia are major OPEC countries. All are our best buddies, too. Also, remember that China consumes more oil than America, so their currently booming economy is mostly to blame for high gas prices. |

Not at all. It's supply & demand. The only way to impact price is for demand to drop significantly and long term. These best thing we could do as consumers would be for all of us to cut back on driving by 20% or more. Now, THAT would send a message. |

It's a dumb thing to even consider.
Then again, a person is smart. People are dumb. |

The gas boycott is being suggested by those with no economic understanding. The price of gas is based on supply and demand. Not purchasing gas for one day has no affect on supply or demand. It's simply a delay in purchasing.
To reduce the price of gas, we would need to reduce demand or increase supply. |

No. It's just another STUPID chain mail going around.
How long can anyone boycott gas? What happens when you run out of gas? Are you going to go without a car? Nope, your gonna fill up.

We Done Yet?

No, it will not. It's a long rumored subject..
The only way to impact gas prices is to reduce demand. We need to fund research for alternative and renewable fuel sources. Plain and simple. As long as we rely on crude oil for gasoline, prices will continue to inflate. |

You are 100% right. Who ever thought that a Gas Boycott would work to lower gas prices is really really dumb. We as Americans cant go a whole day without buying gas. If the gas companies were smart the day after the boycott i would raise prices as high i thought they would go. But all this shortage stuff is a bunch of crap. And then the hurricanes that "devastated" the drilling platforms, that whole story is very stupid. The gas companies are just a bunch of filthy rich sons of a you know what. They all want way too much money. |

Absolutely not. What needs to happen is that everyone take a full weekend or a few and don't use cars or trucks. Take a bicycle. Walk. Or just stay close to home. But one of these weekends, completely eliminate consumption. Otherwise, it's only one day that the money just comes in one day instead of the other. |

Like you said the sales will shift from the day before or the day after so how can it really work. I think if mass transit would take a day off and the airlines also maybe that may do something.
Did you know that it costs approximately 25,000. to fly one way to Iraq in an army airplane? My friends father works on the planes. |

There gain, but this will work . What if we stop buying gas from the three largest company's Exxon ,Shell, ext. then they would drop their prices and the others woul have to follow suit. |
