With BIllions of dollars in funds, why can't the UAW make a people-owned car company instead of striking?
They hate management, but keep paying them to lead them into disaster. I already thought of the wages they would get paid might not start at what they're used to, but a chance of success is better than certain failure, right?
Or is it that they would actually have to work?
Does anyone think they'd just make the Homer car from the simpsons?

I know that I see conspiracy theories everywhere and that means one of two things I'm crazy or they are real. The unions have a vested interest in create unrest among the workers. If contracts were negotiated in good faith between worker and management would you want to pay your union dues. Not to mention per Diem fees while they are working on your contract. It reminds me of a divorce lawyer. The two parties in a divorce can reach an amicable agreement between themselves. They then take it to a lawyer just to make sure and all of sudden they are in a 3 year battle where only the lawyer wins. I have seen it happen more than once.

Logic and reason are not always strong points for the leadership of the UAW.
Set aside your political affiliation and think about the logic of endorsing and encouraging your union membership to vote for Al Gore. The same Al Gore who said "the internal combustion engine is the worst invention of man in history and should be done away with" And what is the membership of the UAW dependent on for their livelihood? That would be the internal combustion engine which is the powerplant of virtually every vehicle made by UAW workers.
