Loko | Work related...conflict question? |
I was wondering if any of you can give me some advice, a new person just joined my firm and i had the unfortunate pleasure of being aquainted with him. He is relatively new to the field although he is 4 years older than me. He is very intrusive and always insists on knowing what i am doing and everytime he comes to my desk he stares at my screen to see what i am doing...and likes probing me for answers to get to his greedy goals...i find him to be pompous and arrogant and stupid yet he thinks he is intelligent...how do i deal with such a person....i am also unfortunaltey a nice guy and good at what i do....but i have no interest in associating with or helping such a person....what should i do? |

do you answer to him? if so, you have no alternative but to leave.
If you don't, talk to whom he answers to and say he is disrupting your concentration. But do that in private. |

Just avoid and try to ignore him. Unless he is your boss, tell him it's really not his concern what you're doing. |

You have to be direct and tell him you don't like it. It's not personal, it's business. I've found that with this type of situation, there is no better way than to be honest, you can still be polite when you say it to him, but it's the only way the guy will back off and leave you alone. |

The best thing to do is to stand up, look him in the eye, tell him seriously and simply that you do not want him to intrude on you at work. Be sure to only say how you feel and what you want. Use simple sentences. Don't smile or apologize. If he get offended(as I think he will), just keep repeating what you want. Are you ready to cut him off? |

Talk with your boss. Maybe your boss stuck him on you to see how you would handle it. He might be thinking of giving you a supervisory position. Best thing to do is talk with your boss and see what is up. Ask your boss for ideas on handling people. |

Unless you are in tight with the boss, you'll probably just have to deal with it. I know that's a lousy answer but I've been in the same situation and unless the guy transfers, leaves or gets fired, it seems your pretty much stuck with him....sorry. |

Honestly, I just had the same issue at the post office i work at. I pretty much went "postal" lol. I turned on the chick and let her have it, with a tirade of everything I was fed up with. And I am a NICE person so it was unusual of me. No more problem though! No more know-it-all bugging me and causing problems... |
