chez_fletch2002 | Working Hours? |
Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of hours you can work in a day? A friend of mine works 10 hours in a shop which suits him fine, however, his boss says this is too long?? Thanx x |

err...24? lol
if you mean legally it probably depends on breaks - as in how often and how long you have breaks for - but I can work 10-14 hours without issue - it just depends on what your working on and how into it you are! |

As per Indian industrial labour rules, maximum number of hours an employee can be asked to work are 8 ( eight ) per day and overtime has to be paid if an employee works more than 8 hours.
Even with overtime payment one cannot be asked to work for more than 12 hours in a day shift.
If somebody wants to work voluntarily as a challenge, it is a different matter. It may vary according to the stamina and determination of a person. |

if i want more money,i work more.if i had earn lots of money,i work less.so the money factor work in this.age factor also considered ,suppose there are two types of employer.first is youth, second is experience one.both get same salary, but working hours are different.because youth are energetic and hungery for success but experience are physically weak,no hunger for success. |

A lot of people work 12 hour shifts, it`s quite legal, i think the regulations govern the hours per week, rather than hours per day. You could look up `working time regulations` |

Depending on the buisness requirements and demands. I worked once 36hrs without a long break due to emergency requirements, but this was unusal.
In my current employment we are only allowed to work a maximum of 12hours in one day and then must be off for 12hrs minimum any breach demands a release for 48hrs with the missed time at work full paid.
Current European directives state that an individual can work upto 48hrs per week average over a set period roster arrangement, unless they sign an opt out clause.
As far as I know, there is no set maximum for hours during the day to work, these are all down to the individual employer as long as they give adequate time off between shifts and meal / rest breaks away from your point of work. |

As long as he gets breaks that is okay and you can only work 40 hours per week unless you opt out |
