Would the sudden collapsee of the wall mart corporation cause world wide economic collaps?

Dorky
No, that 280+ billion dollar sales every year Walmart earned is from many millions of smaller retailers' market pie. That means the more Walmart earns, the less many millions of retailers earn, shifting the market pie to Walmart.

If Walmart falls, its 280+ billion sales every year will be redistributed back to the many smaller retailers. So I don't think there'll be any significant effect. The closest will be great panic at Wall Street because many people own Walmart's share. But not many own the many smaller retailers' shares.

No. In the short term some jobs would be lost. People would pay more for groceries and other items they are used to buying at low prices from Wal-Mart. In a relatively short period of time, other stores would move in to fill the gaps.

mkulda
This would never happen.

But in your fantasy world, if it did, there is plenty of capacity from other retailers that would swoop in and pick right up where Wal-Mart left off.

Cookie
nah...Dollar General is waiting in the wings!!

I would drink a case to celebrate.

Ralph
never, there are too many mom and pop stores in this country

Brahmanyan
No. Not at all. World of business has seen much greater collapse and still survive...

Say What?
No, but it would probably cause one hell of a celebration (at least in some areas). LOL

kirk_garza
No but it would creat one hell of a ripple effect, and then stores Like Target and Kmart would rejoice and sing ding dong the witch is dead, the witch is dead, the wicked witch, the wicked witch is dead!!!!

geek49203
Walmart would be replaced w/ another corporation.

I'm betting that it would be WORSE than Walmart in many ways. The new owners would bring in cheaper stuff, not be nearly as generous to local charities, and have bigger stores.

At least with Walmart, you do get some of the legacy of Sam Walton.

cowrepo
No the void would be filled by Mon and Pop businesses
