Would they do it again?
John b/f said in the 1970's when there was a wages and goods prices freeze by the government, wage ibcreases were pegged but some manufacturers just made thier products smaller. If it's true why can't companies be trusted to help the nation?

The Answerer-er
The primary goal of a corporation, by definition, is to help itself grow profits. That's the sole purpose of creating one. So, they can only be expected to help the government when they'll also benefit. On the good side, if the government can find a way for mutual benefits to occur, it can get cooperation to occur.

Slim Whitman
Economic indicators seem to keep prices fairly stable except for energy.. However, energy is one of those things that effect supply chains costs of goods.

Price control by government is fascism, it was reeled against by most American then.. I don't believe "Companies" are the untrustworthy ones. I believe Government and politicians are the ones we need to watch out for. Government is flush with excesses in spending. What has saved our butt thus far is the economy is good. We don't have double digit inflation a

nd double digit interest rates as we did in the 70s. interest rates remain stable around 6% other then the brief blip into the 5s the lowest we've seen in 50 years.

I do not trust government when it comes to business control.. We are a country based on the free exercise of trade. Supply and Demand drive price. If prices are governed by the government shortages of good occur because production cannot meet demand.

BTW The definition of fascism is Government control of business pricing and output. Think about it.. I don't want it.

These are the same people who dump toxic waste into the environment as a 'by product' of the manufacturing process. Many people today are on weekly contract. Many scrape by on minimum wage.
Business is about profit, nothing else matters.
