Would you fire this employee or not?
I am a restaurant manager(big restaurant chain) and apparently our Regional manager could not get an approval(From HR) to fire a simple employee at-will(waiter). Why? This employee did not follow the chain of command by sending creative suggestions directly to the Executives Presidents.
My regional manager wants me to fire him but if she could not get an approval from an Executive HR why would I have to do that? Can I get into trouble as well?
Also for some reason one of his email(suggestions) went to the mother group(Group who owns us 18 Billion) and the Chairman saw them and asked to our Marketing Department if his ideas were good?
PS: This employee has sent about 8 emails and several of his suggestions have been implemented. I believe he is highly creative but nobody likes him so nobody wants to promote him for some reasons. |

Instead of firing him, try to channel his talents in ways that you and the company can appreciate. Ask him to send the emails to you FIRST for your endorsement, recommendation, and review. Be on his side. Explain to him how sending the emails through the proper chain of command will help him, his career, and help insure that they are recognized by the right people.

What an absurb situation. Sounds like there is more going on with the RM, maybe mad that she couldn't take his ideas and claim them as her own?
I wouldn't fire him. Do you want to be the one who has to explain to the big boys why the guy who gave them the good ideas got canned? Do you think the RM would back you up? No, she would throw you under the bus. |

Why do they want to fire him, because he's making good suggestions? They shouldn't want to fire someone for helping the business...and only because someone doesn't like him?
I recommend you take this employee under your wing and teach him how to be a better liked employee and let him be a shining example of a 'diamond in the rough'. |
