Would you let a politician run your company?
Suppose you were given a large company. You can not sell it. You can keep it and all of the profits. It must make a substantial profit. Do you think a politician would fill the bill as CEO? I don't think so. Do you?
Politicians offer everything and give nothing. This means, they take the price (your vote) of the service but do not give the offered service. In this way if you see, they are the best business people of the world, but that is politics, if they started doing same thing opening a shop or any other business, it won't do.

That depends on his/her capability. Politicians are normally very charismatic, personable and have a great network (not to mention the gift of the gab). This quality might benefit in terms of Business Development to bring in revenue, however, this does not guarrantee the ability to properly manage the organisation. They usually need a large team of people and advisors, to support their actions and decisions.
I guess, it depends on the nature of the business and if the ability of the politician to add value to the business.
