Would you work for a company you considered unethical for example an energy company like bp or shell? ?
By unethical I mean you think their practices are not in the interest of the community - basically out to make the most out the public

Please punctuate properly folks.
No. I was invited to work for the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment in Berkshire. Building better nukes? Not for me!

if it meant the difference between being jobless or working for shell or BP id work for them, especially in this economic climate your lucky to have a job anyway.

Most of us do, one way or another (financial sector, industry etc) - everyone's out to make a profit which means they have to 'make the most out the public'. There are very few so-called ethical companies in relation to the rest.

If it feeds my children , yes!

What company is not "out to make the most"? Private companies are not charitable institutions.

I wouldn't care, it's a job.

I am sure they are no worse than many big corporations. They pay a lot of tax into the Uk economy and so help us here. They must also pay tax into the countries where they also operate in accordance with their laws. If they were suddenly to withdraw form the poorer countries thes would be much poorer, with fewer jobs for locals etc.

I am sure they also contribute to charitable community projects too

actually i would find it less of an ethical challange to work for a profit making company than i would a government agency.

Sahara
Good question. No. It is possible for a company to be successful by behaving ethically. It's about longevity. I was with the #1 department at this large corporation and we were the most ethical. I am very proud of that. The most successful corporations are the most ethical.

All major corporations have unethical business practices. What era are you from? If you look hard enough you will find out exactly how unethical and corrupt the business world is and how little people seem to care unless it effects them directly. Everyone has to eat, so what difference does it make if you work for shell, make nukes, are a psych doctor feeding kids full of pills that cause permanent physical and psychological damages, or you are a pimp or drug lord. They are all one in the same if you ask me. The only difference is some are justifiable by law and some are not, you can get away with anything if you have good enough lawyers, that is every major corporations stance on things. Wake up and smell the coffee. To answer your question, I refuse to work at all, and corruption is the reason why. ;-)
