Typically, yes. It does, however, depend on the item and (if you have a receipt) how long ago the item was purchased. Food items can only be exchanged, as can DVD's, CD's, and Games. A cash refund is usually given only if you have the receipt and opt out of in-store credit or exchanging it. Without the receipt you can only get in-store credit or exchange it. If you must go this route, they will ask for your drivers license or ID card information; to track how many times you've returned an item without a receipt (you're only allowed 3 times a year). You could always call your store and ask them before you make a special trip, but chances are they will tell you that they would have to look at the item before coming to a decision. So I would either take it next time you go shopping there (so you're not wasting gas), or next time you're in the area. Hope this helps.
