i'd go with a bank debit card at your parents and/or yours'.you deposit a certain amount,keep track of your deductions while you're in DC,and should you run short of cash,your parents can deposit moer money into the account at home,and let you know how much.going debit,you don't have interest charges and fees.have fun in DC. |

By law anyone under the age of 18 cannot have a credit card in their name. Your parents can add you as an authorized user on their account but you cannot apply for one yourself.
Because you're so young, I'd recommend that you just carry cash. You might raise the suspicions of a merchant. It is a little weird for a kid to pay with a credit card. |

I think that you should get a debit card you can load money onto it and then spend it. If you are really irasponsible then you can make a limit like 100 dollars a day or 50 dollars! |

First of all, I don't think a 13 year old needs a credit card. But I understand the situation and why you might need one. I would probably get one of those prepaid cards. That way, your parents can set a limit. They just load it with whatever amount that they decide you can spend. This way you can't spend too much. You would just have to make sure you kept track of how much you spent so you don't run out too soon. |

i think that you should get a visa and i know a 13 year old can b trusted with a credit card honestly i went to florida a couple of years ago when i was 13 too....

I agree with the first answer. What kind of responsible spending is a parent thinking when they decide to give a credit card to a thirteen year old? That just shows how children in America today do not know how to value money. |
